Obituary of Jessie Urquhart Murray
Jessie U. Murray, of Shediac Cape, NB; passed away with her family at her side at Dr. George L. Dumont Hospital, on Thursday, March 10, 2011, at the age of 105. Born in Murray Corner, NB on July 2, 1905; she is the daughter of the late Leslie T. and Clara Elizabeth (Field) Stright.
She was a retired member of the Teaching Profession. A member of St. Martin-in-the-Woods Anglican Church in Shediac Cape, she was also a member of the ACW, the Ladies Guild. She was Past Matron of the Order of Eastern Star Zetland Chapter # 26 in Shediac Cape, NB and a member of the Silver Sands Seniors Club. Jessie will be sadly missed by four daughters, Muriel Connors (the late Joe) of Scoudouc Rd; Helen Bateman (the late Bert) of Scoudouc Rd, Sylvia Anne Mollins (Jim) of Shediac Cape and Erminie Mollins (Leigh) of Shediac Cape; her son John Murray (Anne) of Scoudouc Rd, NB; her adoring twenty-three grandchildren; forty-eight great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; as well as many nieces and nephews. Jessie was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Roy Murray in 1963, three sisters Emma Pauley, Lauretta Blair and Edna Trenholm and by five brothers George, James, Gordon, Cecil and Harry Stright; a grandson Stanley R. Bateman and by three great grandchildren. Visitation will be held at St. Martins-in-the-Woods Anglican Church, Shediac Cape, NB on Sunday, March 13, 2011 from 2:00 to 4:00pm and 7:00 to 9:00pm.
The funeral service will be held at St. Martins-in-the-Woods Anglican Church, Shediac Cape, on Monday, March 14, 2011 at 2:00 pm with Ven. Archdeacon Richard McConnell officiating, assisting him will be Rev. Cathy Laskey and Canon Chris VanBuskirk.
A Eastern Star Service, conducted by Zetland Chapter #26 will be held at St. Martins-in-the-Woods Anglican Church, Shediac Cape, NB on Sunday, March 13, 2011 at 6:45pm. Interment will be at St. Martins-in-the-Woods Anglican Church Cemetery in the spring. Family flowers only, donations in Jessie's memory made to the St. Martins-in-the-Woods Anglican Church Memorial Funds, the Stanley R. Bateman Bursary Fund or to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by her family.
