Obituary of Harry L. O'Brien
Harry O'Brien, of Riverview, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at The Moncton Hospital on Tuesday, March 10, 2009 on his 76th birthday. Born in Wolfville, NS, he was the son of the Harry W. and Margaret Alma (Russell) O'Brien. He was formerly employed and later retired from the Canada Employment and Immigration (CEIU). Harry was an avid sportsman in his youth he played hockey with the Wolfville Falcons and in the summers he played completive Softball in Kentville, it was later following retirement he took up the game of golf. Harry was active in his community, he was a Past President of the Yarmouth Lions Club and Past President of the Riverview Lions Club where he also served as chairman on numerous committees.
A loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and friend he will be sadly missed by his loving wife Muriel W. his daughters Shelly O'Brien (Mervyn Hann) of Ottawa and Shuan MacDonald (Scott) of Riverview; his adoring grandchildren Katie, Griffin and Josh; he will also be fondly remembered by his cousin Ann Billy of Ajax, close family friend Darlene Smith of Moncton, the Russell Family of New Ross and Halifax, NS; and by the Dowell and O'Brien Families.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by three infant children.
The family will be receiving relatives and friends at the Riverview Lions Community Center, 701 Coverdale Rd. Riverview on Saturday, March 14, 2009 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm for a celebration of life and sharing memories.
The Riverview Lions will hold a Lions dedication service on Saturday at 2:00pm from the Riverview Lions Club all are welcomed.
Interment will be in Elmgrove Cemetery, Steam Mills, NS in the spring.
Donations made to Lions Sick Children Fund, Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides or to the charity of the donors choice would be appreciated.
