Obituary of Helen Emery

On October 3rd, 2011, at the Georges L Dumont hospital in Moncton, Helen Emery (nee MacDonald) died as she had lived: quietly, peacefully and with grace. Helen was born on November 8th, 1913, in New Glasgow, NS to the late Daniel MacDonald and the late Sarah (Buckley) MacDonald. She was predeceased in 1984 by her beloved husband Andrew Emery and in 2010 by her daughter Pauline Emery (John Doucet). She is survived by her daughter Mary Lou Johnson (late Emery Johnson), son John Emery (Peggy Carter Emery), her sister Miriam Fitzgerald, several nieces, and extended family. Wife, mother, and Grandmom, Helen watched with great love and pride as the lives of her cherished grandchildren unfolded. She saw Claire, Shannon, Andrew, Paul, Marc, Adrien, Heather, Margot, Sue, Kate, and Kevin as an extension of herself, and often talked of how she saw her life as a river that flowed from her, through them, and onward to unimaginable places. We were blessed when Helen was able to see the flow continue to a new generation with the arrival of her great-granddaughter Lucy. We have all benefited from her love, support, keen mind, love of reading and passion for current events. She was a long standing member of the Catholic Women’s League, an avid bridge player, and an active member of St Augustine's Parish. Helen will be remembered as a gracious lady who lived with style and practical wisdom. All of us who were close to her have been saddened to watch her slip away over recent years, and will greatly miss her presence in our lives. Visitation will be held at Tuttle Brothers Funeral Home, 171 Lutz St. Moncton on Thursday, October 6, 2011 from 2:00 to 4:00pm and 7:00 to 9:00pm. The funeral mass will be held at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church, corner of Dominion St. and Mountain Rd. Moncton on Friday, October 7, 2011 at 9:30 am with Fr. Yvon Arsenault officiating. Donations in Helen's memory made to the memorial of the donor's choice would be appreciated by her family. Interment Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe, NB.
