Obituary of Henry J. Martin
Henry J. Martin- 69, of Lower Coverdale, NB; passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at The Moncton Hospital, on Saturday, September 17, 2016. He was the son of the late Wilfred and Rita (nee Gaudet) Martin. He was born in Murray Settlement, NB.
Henry worked as an Ironworker for 40 years. He had a passion for building things, including his semi-famous steel framed garage at the home he and his wife Linda shared in Point Du Chene. But his biggest dream was to build a camp in the community he was brought up in. His desire to build this camp was what gave him the strength to get through his treatments and he completed his goal and has left his family a legacy for us to enjoy.
Henry is survived by his wife Linda Holmstrom-Martin; one daughter, Karen Basque (Ronnie), Damascus,NB; one step-daughter, Jennifer Martin (Denis), Moncton, NB; two sons, Danny (Amy), Houston, TX, Jason (Jennifer), Quispamsis, NB; six sisters, Angela Martin (Eloie), Rogersville, NB, Thélerise Bouchard (Roger), Saint John, NB, Corinne Gallant (Fernand), Collette, NB, Cecile Martin (Gerard), Rosaireville, NB, Bernadette Gaudet (Ivon), Saint John, NB, Simonne Arsenault (Gilles), Moncton, NB; three brothers, Norman (late Rose Martin), Rogersville, NB, Fernand (Huberte), Collette, NB, Armand (Charline), Moncton, NB; four grand children, Madeline, Chase, Jonah, Jordan; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Henry was pre-deceased by one sister, Laudia McClaren and one brother Calixte.
The family is having a Celebration of Life at the Moncton Dart Club, 28 Eaton Street, on Tuesday September 20th. It will begin at 4pm and there will be refreshments offered. A private family burial will take place at a later date.
Donations in Henry's memory made to the Friends of the Moncton Hospital. Foundation or the Oncology Department would be appreciated by the family.
