Obituary of Sarah Margaret Hachey

Sarah Margaret (Berridge) Hachey, nee Warkentin, affectionately known as ‘Miggy’ to many family and friends, was born on July 25, 1921 in Manitoba to the late Frances (Allingham) and Ben Warkentin. She died after a brief illness, in the Moncton Hospital, on August 6. Margaret is survived by her children: John Berridge (Marlies) and their sons Stefan and Peter; Joan Lewis (David) and their sons Michael (Kimberlee), Scott (Stacey McKinlay), and Ian; David Berridge (Colleen) and their daughters Laura MacDonald (Matt) and Allison (Brian Phillips); Sheila Blagrave (Mark) and their sons Patrick and Nicholas; and two great granddaughters Rhiannon Lewis and Jayden MacDonald. She is also survived by her sister Helen Stanley and her nephew Marc Stanley; by stepsons Edgar Hachey (Marguerite); Eric Hachey (Patricia); and stepdaughter Marie Syrie (Ron) and several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her first husband, the Rev. Joe Berridge, her second husband Edgar Hachey, her brother John Warkentin, her granddaughter Karen Lewis, and stepsons Blair Joseph Hachey (Doriel), and Donald Hachey (Denise). A school teacher in Moncton, Shediac, and Bermuda, Margaret was much loved by all who knew her and was remarkable for her vibrant, positive outlook on life, her joie de vivre, her strength through adversity, and the model she provided for her children and grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. The funeral service will be held at Trinity United Church, Shediac on Aug 10 at 2:00 pm, where she was a member for 34 years. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation at the request of the family. Donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made in Margaret's memory to the Canadian Arthritis Society.
