Obituary of Willard Talmadge Jones
Willard T. Jones, 82, of Riverview, passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Saturday, January 26, 2008. Born in Royal Oak, Michigan, on January 21, 1926, he was the son of the late Harold and Stella (Spinney) Jones.
Willard retired from Canada Post after 35 years service. He was a member of Riverview Baptist Church, where he served on the Board of Trustees for a number of years. He was also a member of the Riverview Baptist "Goldenaires" Seniors Group. A veteran of WWII he served in the RCNVR and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and the Riverview Veterans and Armed Forces Association. After the war ended Willard attended the Moncton Vocational Training School for one year, serving his apprenticeship with A. F. Butcher & Sons in Sackville, NB. He received his Journeyman's Certificate in 1949 in Carpentry. After joining Canada Post, he continued on with his woodworking skills as a hobby, doing many home improvements for family and friends.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, devoted to spending time with his family.
Left with fond memories is his wife of 59 years Barbara (Crossman) Jones, two sons: Commander Robert "Bob" Jones and his wife Martha of Dartmouth, NS; Rev. Greg Jones and his wife Wendy of Quispamsis, NB; six grandchildren: Andrew, Mark (Anna), Victoria (Paul), Laura, Amy and Molly; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Besides his parents he is predeceased by two brothers Glenn and Alex Jones.
Resting at Riverview Funeral Home, Pine Glen Road with visitation on Monday, January 28, 2008 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00pm.
The funeral service will be held at Riverview Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Jonathan Gorham and Rev. Greg Jones officiating.
The Riverview Veterans Association will be holding a veterans service at the Riverview Funeral Home on Monday, January 28, 2008 at 6:45pm.
Interment will be in Sackville Cemetery, Sackville, NB in the spring.
