Obituary of L. Gayle Stothart`

Surrounded by her family and friends, Gayle Stothart, of Riverview, passed away at the Dr. Georges L. Dumont Hospital on Saturday, March 14, 2009 at the age of 49 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on October 31, 1959 in Bathurst, NB, Gayle, the daughter of Ian G. and Myrna G. (Wood) Stothart of Bathurst, NB, is survived by her sisters Jane Trites (Kevin) of Salisbury and Sue Stothart (Maurice Carriere) of Sudbury, ON; and her brother David Stothart (Cathy) of Bedford, NS. She was predeceased by her sister Margot Stothart. Gayle was the much loved and best toy giving Aunt to her nephews and nieces; Carson Trites, Ryan and Peyton Stothart, Michael and Emma Carriere. She is also survived by her aunts, uncles and cousins. Prior to her illness, Gayle worked as a Physiotherapist at the Moncton Hospital for over 25 years. She was a graduate of both Mount Allison and Dalhousie University, and was a member of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association. Gayle was an avid sportsperson. She enjoyed playing ladies touch football, basketball, and playing golf every waking moment with her friends at Country Meadows Golf Club. Gayle loved animals and cherished her cats, KT and Abigail. She relished a good read and always rose to the challenge of solving any puzzle. Her passion for testing new recipes and her friendly gardening competitions will be missed by all. A special thank-you to all the doctors, nurses and staff at the Dr. Georges L. Dumont Hospital for their compassion and care during Gayle's illness. A memorial service will be held at Riverview Funeral Home & Memorial Chapel, 214 Pine Glen Rd. Riverview, on Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at 2:00 PM with The Rev Brent Ham and The Rev Rod Black officiating. Interment will be in St. George's Anglican Cemetery in Bathurst, NB in the spring.
