Obituary of J. A. Gerard "Gerry" Bourgeois

Gerry Bourgeois, 80, of Riverview, passed away at his residence on Sunday, April 12, 2009. Born in Montreal, PQ, he was the son of the late Laurie and Eva (LeBlanc) Bourgeois. He was employed with CNR John Street Shops and retired after forty years service. He was a member of the CN Pensioners Gerry was an avid sportsman, he was a speed skating champion, he played hockey for the Montreal Canadians farm club and he enjoyed playing golf at Lakeside, Magnetic Hill and many of the local golf courses. He was an accomplished musician and drummer, he played many venues, however his most memorable was playing for the Queen Mother. A loving and caring husband, father, grampy, brother and friend, he will be missed by his wife of 43 years Betty Bourgeois, his children Darlene (Armand) Leger of Colpitts Settlement and Darren Michael (Natalie) Bourgeois of Sainte Antoine, Nancy, Kathy and Laurie Bourgeois all of Moncton; grandchildren Alexander and Shaniah, Melodie and Matthew, Willie, Trevor and Rebecca; by great grandchildren; one sister Rev. Sr. Noella Bourgeois of British Columbia, three brothers Ola (June) Bourgeois and Norman (Bonnie) Bourgeois all of Moncton and Rodrigue (Lynn) Bourgeois of Bouctouche; as well as nieces and nephews. Resting at Riverview Funeral Home 214 Pine Glen Rd. Riverview with visitation on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. The funeral service will be held at Riverview Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Mark Smith officiating. Interment will be in Pine Hill, Cemetery Salisbury, NB.
