Obituary of Joseph Gerald Landry
Joseph Gerald Landry, of Riverview, passed away with family by his side at The Moncton Hospital on Thursday, February 25, 2010 at the age of 69 years. Born in Amherst, NS on December 11, 1940 he was the son of the late Gerald and Margaret (Belliveau) Landry. Joe retired in 1995 after teaching for 30 years at JMA Armstrong High School in Salisbury, NB. Joe served as parish manager of St. Bernard's Roman Catholic Church for several years; he was a member of The Knights of Columbus, Council 9270; Past Treasurer of The Greater Moncton Association for Community Living; also Past President of The New Brunswick Math Teachers Association. He is survived by his wife of 46 years Donna (Jackman); sons Michael (Joanne) Landry of Kentville, NS, Jeff (Shirley) Landry of Rothesay, NB, and John Landry of Fredericton, NB; grandchildren Christopher, Nicholas, Megan, Alex and Monica; sisters Rita (Bernie) Smyth and Mary-Anne Landry both of NS; brother Philip (Priscilla) Landry of NS; also by several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his infant brother Raymond. Resting at The Riverview Funeral Home on Sunday February 28, 2010 from 2:00 - 4:00pm and 7:00 - 9:00pm. Parish prayers will be held at the funeral home Sunday evening at 8:30pm. The funeral mass will be held at St. Bernard's Roman Catholic Church on Monday March 1, 2010 at 11:00 am with Father Allison Carroll officiating. Interment will be in Alderwood Cemetery. In Joe's memory, donations made to The St. Bernard's Roman Catholic Church Elevator Fund, or to The YMCA ReConnect Street Intervention at 30 War Veterans Avenue, Moncton, NB E1C-0B3.
