Obituary of Margaret P. Atkinson
The death of Margaret Phyllis (Reid) Atkinson occured at The Moncton Hospital on Wednesday August 25, 2010. She was born in Moncton, the daughter of Otis and Ada (Lorimer) Reid on the 10th of July 1921, the second youngest of seven siblings. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Murray Atkinson and her stepson Brian Atkinson; two sisters and four brothers - Aubrey, Kathleen Dawes (George), Ernest (Doris Ayles), Eleanor Dopking (Kenneth), Donald (Elva-Jane Jarvis) and Albert (Jean MacDonald). She is survived by her stepson Douglas Atkinson and his wife Karen of Bangkok, Thailand; special sister-in-law Clara Atkinson of Middle West Pubnico, NS, friend Corinne Wetmore of Moncton, and several nieces, nephews and their families. Both she and Murray were long-time employees of the Canadian National Railway. Following their retirement they enjoyed wintering in Florida and travelling to a variety of countries. Margaret was a member of the Dr. John Clarence Webster Chapter I.O.D.E. and a member of the First United Baptist Church, Moncton. There is no visitation at Margaret's request. The funeral service will be held at Tuttle Brothers Memorial Chapel on Friday, August , 27, 2010 at 1:00pm with Rev. Mark Hunter officiating. Interment will be in Fair Haven Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations made to the Parkinson's Society of Canada, the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
