Obituary of Nan Margaret Goodwin
Nan Goodwin of Monarch Hall, Riverview and formerly of Portledge Avenue, Moncton, passed away at her residence on Friday, February 10, 2012, in her 100th year. Born in Lewisville on July 20, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Fulton and Jennie Lee (Purdy) Barnaby. She attended Moncton First Baptist Church. She graduated from Aberdeen High School, and was a graduate of The Moncton Hospital Training School in 1934. At that time, student nurses spent three months at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal for maternity nursing experience, and one month with the Saint John County Hospital to experience nursing patients with Tuberculosis. Following her nurse's graduation, she became a supervisor in the Moncton Hospital on King Street.
Nan's family and friends were recipients of her gracious love and care. The family cottage at Shediac Cape gave her immense joy. She had a delightful sense of humour and a contagious laugh. She was the beloved mother of Georgie Lee (Ralph) Taylor of Moncton and W. Harrison, Jr. (late Elizabeth, 1999) of Riverview; six grandchildren: Bill (Suzanne) Taylor, Patricia Lee (Peter) Gowan, Catherine Taylor, Jason (Sheryl) Goodwin, Damon (Cynthia) Goodwin, Aaron (Pamela) Goodwin and twelve great grandchildren.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband William Harrison (1962, Barrister); two brothers Percy Barnaby (WWII), John A. (Jack) Barnaby.
By personal request there will be no visitation. A private family service will be held at a later date. Memorial gifts may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
