Obituary of George William Platt
George W. Platt, 83, of Moncton, passed away at Saint John Regional Hospital on Wednesday, May 3, 2006.
Born in Scotch Settlement, York Co. NB. He was the son of the late William Harold and Annie (Haines) Platt. George was Diesel Mechanic retiring from Carolina Freight Carriers in Rocky Mountain North Carolina in 1981. He attended Sunny Brae Baptist Church and he was a member of First Baptist Church in Inverness, Florida. He served overseas with the Royal Canadian Air Force Tactical Division during World War II.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years Marion (Murray) Crawford Platt, two daughters Gloria Kaylor and Darlene Peepers both of Texas, two sons Douglas Platt of Florida and Gerald Platt (Kitty) of New Jersey, by Marion's children Carolyn Mapplebeck of AB., Judy Boyd (Larry), of NB., James Crawford (Marilyn) of North Carolina, Susan Ells (Marven)of NB and Bonnie Meringer (Brian) of ON; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; one sister Phyllis Brewer in Fredericton, two brothers Keith Platt (Barbara) of Indiana and Lawrence of Fredericton, his former wife Vivian Platt of Texas, by several nieces and nephews.
At George's request there is no viewing at the funeral home.
The Memorial Service will be held at Sunny Brae Baptist Church on Friday, May 5, 2006 at 3:00 pm. The family will be receiving relatives and friends for a reception and a time of fellowship in the church hall immediately following the service.
Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in the spring.
In lieu of flowers donations to the Mission Fund of Sunny Brae Baptist Church or to the memorial of the donor's choice would be appreciated by his family.
