Obituary of George Harold Joyce
George H. Joyce, 80, of Moncton and formerly of St. John's NL.; passed away peacefully at Moncton Hospital on January 1st, 2008, following a short illness.
Born in St. John’s, in 1927, he was the son of the late Patrick and Blanche (Scaplen) Joyce. George was a resident of Moncton for the past 40 years and was a commercial traveler for many years. He was a member of Mount Royal United Church, where in his later years he was an active participant in the music programme. He appreciated many genres of music, enjoyed singing, and was a talented pianist.
He leaves to mourn, his wife Jean (Hillier) Joyce; two daughters Carol (Jim Carscadden), St. Philip’s, NL; and Liz (Kerry DeLorey), Dartmouth, NS; and two grandchildren Elizabeth Carscadden and Alexander DeLorey; as well as many other relatives and friends.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by son Randy; brothers William, Fred and Patrick; sisters Harriett, Elsie, Blanche, Marion and Mabel and by several siblings who passed away in infancy and childhood.
Remains are resting at Tuttle’s Funeral Home, 171 Lutz St., Moncton, with visitation on Thursday, January 3, 2008 from 7 to 9pm. and Friday, January 4, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm.
The funeral service will be held at Mount Royal United Church in Moncton on Saturday, January 5, 2008 at 2:00pm with Rev. Brett Anningson officiating and assisted by Rev. Ron Maund.
Donations in George's memory, made to the Friends of the Moncton Hospital Foundation, Mount Royal United Church Memorial Fund, or to the charity of the donor's choice, would be appreciated by his family.
A memorial service and interment will be held in St. John's NL. at a later date, with details to be announced.
