Obituary of Gladys McCarron

McCarron, Gladys - 89, passed away peacefully Oct 23, 2009 in Arborstone Enhanced Care, Halifax N.S. with her family by her side. A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she will be greatly missed for her kindness and love of life. Born July 2, 1920 in Hastings, Albert Co.,NB. she was the daughter of the late Bernard and Gertrude McKinley. She worked at a variety of jobs in her youth but she will be remembered most for being a homemaker and friend to all. She married Maurice McCarron in July 1946 and her life with Maurice brought her to many National Parks across Canada. In each community she quickly became involved with church and sporting activities. She was an avid golfer, playing her last game at the age of 80. She curled competitively, cross-country skied, played bridge and loved to get her feet going on the dance floor to lively music. She is survived by her children Philip (Jeanette) Golden B.C, John (Jane), Brooklin, Ont, Helen (Pierre Wedge), Dartmouth, NS, Gerald (Jennifer), Brackley Beach, PEI, and Joseph (Mary) McCarron, Victoria, BC.; sisters Winnie (Harold) Smith, Maisie Martin, and Marie McQuade; grandchildren Matthew ( Lisa), Katie (Bryn), Jeremy (Jennifer), Murray, Ryan ( Carolyn), Megan, Jodi (Yann), Ian (Clare), Alex, Jeremy and Joshua: 10 great-grandchildren and many cherished nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Maurice McCarron in 1995; by brothers Louis, Elmer and Donald; sisters Annie, Viola, Stella, Tressie, Clara and grandchildren Sarah and Wesley. Visitation will be held at Riverview Funeral Home, 214 Pine Glen Rd, Riverview, NB (506)857-9544. Visiting times will be Sunday Oct 25, 2009 2 pm - 4pm and 7pm - 9 pm with ("Sharing of Memories" at 8:30 pm). Funeral Mass will be held on Monday,Oct 26, 2009, 11 am at the Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Riverside-Albert, Father Phil Mulligan officiating. Internment at Holy Ghost cemetery (Hopewell Hill). Reception to follow at the community centre in Riverside- Albert.
