Obituary of Roy F. Mannette

It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of our dear father Roy Francis Mannette, 71, which occurred Wednesday, June 20, 2007 at his home in Riverview, NB as the result of an accident. Born November 25, 1935 in West Chezzetcook, NS. He was the youngest son of the late Walter and Esther Belle (Brady) Mannette. Roy is survived by his children David (Marie) of Riverview, Kevin (Heather) of Denver Co., Cynthia of Ottawa, Barry (Bridgitte) of Riverview and Lynn (Richard) Lawrence of Riverview; grandchildren Christine, Angela, Samantha, Jenan, Jamie, Ethan, Danielle, Anessa, Emily, Benjamin and Melissa; great grandchildren Campbell and Chase; siblings Reginald (Madelyn), Helen Crawford, Dorothy Crawford, Donald (Bernice), Margaret (Cyril) Randall and Edward (Marilyn) all of Chezzetcook, NS. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 50 years Dorothy M. Mannette in October of 2006, also by a brother Gerald and a sister Alice. Roy will be remembered as a man of great energy with many interests and skills. He was an outstanding supporter of the community, contributing to many projects and causes. He graduated from the Machine Shop Program Halifax Co. Vocational School in 1955, where he also found time to become Lieutenant in the School Cadet Corps obtained an aircraft pilots license and wrestle semi professionally on the weekends.He was employed as a machinist at Imperial Oil in Dartmouth until he purchased Robertson Machinery Co. in Riverview and moved his family in 1965. The business expanded over the years and is still operated by family members. Roy was also a member of the Riverview Jaycees for seventeen years, where he held many offices and was appointed Senator in 1987. He was member of the Riverview Lions Club with a combined service of thirty-six years, where he held many offices and chairmanships including President. His hobbies were sailing and he will always be remembered for building a 45 foot steel boat in his shop, on which he spend many winters sailing around the Caribbean with his wife Dorothy. In recent years he was involved in RV travel and was a member of the Perfect Circle Motor Home Club. He will be most sadly missed and remembered in our hearts. The family will be receiving relatives and friends at the Riverview Funeral Home, Pine Glen Rd. Riverview, NB on Monday, June 25, 2007 from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9pm The funeral service will be held at St. Anslem's Parish Church, West Chezzetcook, NS on Thursday, June 28, 2007 at 11:00 am with Fr. Dariusz Miskowicz officiating. Interment will be in St. Anselm's Parish Church Cemetery, West Chezzetcook, NS Donations in Roy's memory made to charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated.
