Obituary of Peter E. Kelley

In remembrance of Peter E. Kelley, who passed away on April 25th, we will hold a celebration of his life on Tuesday September 29th at 4:30 pm at the Delta Beausejour (750 Main Street, Moncton.) in the Shediac ballroom. Access to the Shediac room is via the elevators in the main lobby. A reception and fiddle music will follow. Kelley of Moncton, NB passed away at The Moncton Hospital in the company of his loving partner Elinor Hughes on Saturday, April 25, 2020 at the age of 94. Born in Kingston, ON he was the son of the late Edgar and Laura (Staples) Kelley. Peter was born and educated in Kingston, ON, having schooled at Kingston Collegiate & Vocational Institute and graduating from Queens University in 1949 with a B.Com degree. Peter was proud of his partnership with Canadian Tire. He owned and operated stores in Estevan, SK, Port Hawkesbury, NS and his last store was Canadian Tire, Mountain Rd., Moncton location where he retired in 1994. He was a former member of the Moncton Rotary Club and Moncton Golf & Country Club. Peter enjoyed travelling with his partner Elinor to sunny southern locations during the winter and spending the summers at the farm in Kingston, NB. Survived by his companion and best friend of 21 years, Elinor Hughes; daughter, Jocelyn Kelley of Vancouver, BC; sons, James of Edmonton, AB and Dean of London, ON and grandchildren, Jason, Stephanie, Patrick, Leslie and Laura. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his first wife, Doreen Kelley in 1998. Interment will be in Cataraqui Cemetery, Kingston, ON at a later date. Donations in Peter's memory made to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
