Obituary of Melvin "Mel" L. MacNeill

Melvin "Mel" L. MacNeill, 81 years, of Riverview passed away at his residence, on Friday, February 18, 2022. Born in North Wiltshire, Charlottetown, PEI he was the son of the late Leroy Howard and Cresta Marion (MacNevin) MacNeill. Mel was retired after many years with Co-op Atlantic. Mel was a lover of family, music, books, driving and potatoes (but only PEI potatoes). Ever the "Islander" Mel will return to the red shores of PEI where he can finally breathe easy once again. "You never know what peace is until you walk on the shores or in the fields or along the winding red roads of a summer twilight when the dew is falling and the old stars are peeping out and the sea keeps its mighty tryst with the little land it loves. You find your soul then. You realize that youth is not a vanished thing but something that dwells forever in the heart" Lucy Maud Montgomery. Mel is survived by his wife, Grace Delight (Morse); daughter, Brenda Lea Wood (Paul) of Halifax; son, William Thane MacNeill (Deborah Squire) of Halifax; grandchildren, Sahra Ashley MacNeill, Logan Gabriel Wood and Brayden Patrick Wood. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his sister Marilee Ella Rae MacNeill, and by an infant brother Alvin Roy MacNeill. A celebration of life will be held at Tuttle Brother and Riverview Funeral Home, 214 Pine Glen Rd. on Thursday, February 24, 2022 between the hours of 5:00pm - 7:00pm.
