Obituary of Myrtle Donahue

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of a loving and kind mother, grand-mother, special aunt and sister, Myrtle Donahue on April 7, 2022 at the Moncton City Hospital. Born in Belledune, NB, she was the daughter of the late Alphonse and Marguerite Lagace. At the age of sixteen, she joined her older sisters in Moncton and was employed at the E. Eaton. Co. She met and married the love of her life, Edward Donahue, and together, they owned and operated Ed's Corner Store & Postal Service at the corner of Mountain Rd. and Archibald St. for many years. Myrtle was an excellent cook and anyone who dropped by, never left hungry. Her roast beef dinners were like none other. She was a member of the St. Bernard's Parish, loved old-time music and drives in the country. She is survived and will be dearly missed by her two sons, Jerome (Melanie) and step-son Chris of Edmonton, AB; Peter (Phyllis) and their two daughters, Bliss and Beatrice of Waterloo, ON, two sisters, Doris Malenfant (late Edgar) and Adeline Fisher (late Clair) with whom she shared a special bond, having resided together for over 10 years. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins, a brother-in-law and sister-in-law. She is predeceased by her husband, Edward (2015) and son, Lucian; brothers, Alphonse Jr. , Delphis, Theodore and Edgar; sisters, Florance Drisdelle, Geraldine Donahue and Leona Keefer. Funeral Service will be held from Tuttle Brothers Riverview Funeral Chapel on Friday, October 14, 2022 ar 11:00am with Fr. Charles Broderick officiating. Interment to follow at the Shediac Road Roman Catholic Cemetery, Moncton, NB. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Friends of the Moncton Hospital. The family would also like to thank Protem Health Care Services for their care and concern for Myrtle during the past three years.
