Obituary of Elaine Miriam Bingham
Elaine Miriam Bingham (nee Stevens) passed away at the Moncton Hospital on Monday, June 2, 2008 at the age of 94 years. Born in Sunny Brae, she was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was the daughter of the late Thomas P. Stevens and Georgie (Burgess) Stevens. She was predeceased by her brothers, Thomas and Henry Stevens and sister Laura (Ken) Ambrose and her husband, George J. Bingham, Q.C. She is survived by her daughter, Jill S. Bingham, her son, W. Ross (Bonnie) Bingham, Q.C., her grandchildren, Todd (Hélène) Bingham, Kelsey D. Bingham, Sandy (Jane) Bingham, her great-grandchildren Émilie and Patrick Bingham, her sister-in-law, Edith (the late Henry) Stevens and several nieces and nephews.
She was a graduate of Aberdeen High School (1933), Horton Academy (1935) in Wolfville, NS and Acadia University (1937) with a degree in Home Economics, where she was also involved in the drama society and student council. She was a loving and caring person whose family came first. She enjoyed her cottage at the Bluff, a love of antiques and art, water colour painting and cards.
She was long time member of Central United Church and the funeral will be held there on Thursday, June 5, 2008 at 3:00pm with the Rev. Dr. James MacDonald officiating. A time of reception will be shared following the service. Donations in Elaine’s memory may be made to The Friends of the Moncton Hospital, the Greater Moncton Association for Community Living or the Parkinson’s Foundation.
