Obituary of Elroy A. Sare

Elroy A. Sare, 93, of Lefurgey Special Care Home and formerly of Lawson Ave. Riverview, passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Monday, January 5, 2009. Born in McAdam, NB on September 5, 1915, he was the son of the late Ernest P. J. and Alice M. (Burrows) Sare. Elroy was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church in Riverview and was a former member of Knox Presbyterian Church in Campbellton where he was a former Clerk of Session of the church. He was a former member of the Royal Canadian Army with the rank of Sergeant. Elroy was a self employed mason and carpenter. A career he enjoyed even after his retirement as he continued to work on home improvements. He is survived by his sons Douglas Sare of Sussex, Robert Sare of Riverview and James Sare of St. John's NL; two grandchildren Stephen Sare (Amber Putnam) of Fredericton and Kimberly Newman (Robert) of Cambridge, ON. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife Jean H. (Adams) Sare in 2006 and by his brothers Ernest Francis Sare and Charles James Sare. Resting at Riverview Funeral Home 214 Pine Glen Rd. with visitation on Thursday, January 8, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. The funeral service will be held at Riverview Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, January 9, 2009 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Charles Cook officiating and Rev. Murray Graham assisting. Interment will be in Campbellton Rural Cemetery, Campbellton, NB in the spring. Donations in Elroy's memory made to Canadian Cancer Society or to Friends of the Moncton Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by his family.
