Obituary of Eileen Joan Anderson

E. Joan Anderson, 87, of Moncton, NB; passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital, on Sunday, April 17, 2011. She resided in Lakeville for many years and for the last 15 years at People's Park Tower. Joan was born in Banstead, Surrey, England on August 10, 1923, she was the daughter of the late John and Sarah (Parsons) Blunden. Joan emigrated to Canada as a "War Bride" in 1946. She served with the NAAFI during WW II, providing meals to the soldiers and because of that experience, she always made sure that she had plenty of food on the table for her family and guests. Joan loved knitting, needle tatting, crocheting and was a regular at bingo at People’s Park Tower. She was a member of St. George's Anglican Church in Moncton, a member of the Lakeville Senior's Club and a proud member of the New Brunswick War Bride's Association. She had a quick wit, a sharp mind and will be fondly remembered by all who knew her. She will be sadly missed by her sons Carl (Margaret) of Surrey, BC., Alan (Cecillia) of Dartmouth, NS. and Donald (Cindi) of Moncton; her beloved grandchildren Dale, Scott, Jeffrey, Mark, Michelle, Sarah, Bradley and Ashley; her great-grandchildren Faith, Alex and Findley. She held a special place in her heart for Barb and Edgar Cove and their children Colin, Spencer and Virginia. Joan was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Besides her parents, Joan was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Donald Anderson; her son Trevor; two sisters Nancy (Friend) and Lena (Young); also by three brothers Verne, Redvers and Clarence (Butler). The funeral service will be held at St. George's Anglican Church on Saturday, June 18, 2011 at 2:00 pm. with The Rev. Chris VanBuskirk officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joan's memory, made to the Moncton Food Bank or to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated. Arrangements have been entrusted to Tuttle Bros.
