Obituary of A. Eileen Sullivan

A. (Anne) Eileen Sullivan, 92, passed away Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at The Moncton Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Riverside, Albert Co., January 4, 1915, she was the youngest daughter of the late Clement O'Connor and Elizabeth (Duffy) O'Connor. A 1933 graduate of Riverside Consolidated High School, she entered Moncton's Hotel Dieu School of Nursing in 1934. Stricken with an eye disorder which left her blind in one eye, she abandoned a nursing career and returned to Riverside as secretary housekeeper of Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church. She resided in Moncton from 1945 working in the retail and service sector retiring in 1970. Predeceased by her husband John (1994); infant son John Stewart (1951); sister Lillian (Ormond) Doherty; brother Charles (Vera) O'Connor. She is survived by son Michael; daughter in law Judy of Moncton; nieces Linda O'Connor of Moncton, Anida Simurda of Ottawa and Nephew Donald O'Connor of Moncton; also by special and dear friends Margaret Downing, Anne Hatcher, and Ron Morse. An honorary life member of the Moncton Senior Citizens Center, a life member of the Air Force Veterans Association, a 70 year member of the St. Bernard's CWL, an active member of the New Brunswick Irish Cultural Association-Moncton Chapter, a former member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #6 and the Moncton Curlers Association. Eileen lived life to the fullest motivated by her love of family, friends, her pets and horticulture. Resting at Tuttle Brothers Funeral Home, 171 Lutz St. on Thursday October 25, 2007 from 7:00-9:00pm, Friday October 26, 2007 from 2:00-4:00pm & 7:00-9:00pm. Parish prayers will be held at the funeral home friday evening at 8:30pm. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday October 27, 2007 at 10:00am from St. Bernards Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Allison Carroll and concelebrated by Rev. Savio Mazerolle, family friend. Interment will follow in Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Cemetery, Hopewell Hill, NB. In Eileen's memory, donations made to The NB Irish Cultural Association, Moncton Chapter; Friends of The Moncton Hospital or The CNIB Moncton office would be appreciated.
