Obituary of Janet D. Mallory

Janet D. Mallory, 70, of Cocagne, NB; passed away at the Dr. Georges L. Dumont University Hospital, on Monday, January 16, 2012. Born in Saint John, NB on May 1, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Harry B. and Verbina "Peggy" (Chapman) Tuttle. Janet is the President of Tuttle Brothers Funeral Home. She is the daughter of one of the first licensed funeral directors in the Atlantic Provinces, dedicating her life to the funeral services of the Greater Moncton area, lately serving as Grief Counsellor for many of the families served by Tuttles as well as others needing help in their time of grief. She was a member of the NB Funeral Directors and Funeral Providers Association, having been presented with an honorary embalmers license in 2011 by the Association. Janet was very active: She was Past Matron of Zetland Chapter # 26, Shediac Cape OES, and Grand Alda of New Brunswick Order of Eastern Star, and a member of the Red Hat Society. She was a past member of the Royal Purple, she was a cub leader with Central United Church, she coached junior curling at MCA, and taught swimming at YMCA. Janet also loved her crafts and hobbies, crewel work, needle point, sewing, and crocheting. Many of her works are displayed proudly at Tuttle Brothers Funeral Home. Janet also loved gardening and loved her collection of teddy bears. Janet will be sadly missed by her husband of 51 years Lloyd R. Mallory; two daughters Karen Mallory of Havelock and Lynn Mallory of Miramichi; grandchildren Kate Boone of Moncton and Rob Boone of Fredericton; her mother-in-law Dorothy M. Mallory of Sussex, and also by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. She is also survived by three nieces and one cousin. Janet is the last surviving member of her immediate family. Janet was predeceased by two sons Brian Scott Mallory and Stephen H. Mallory, and by her sisters Olive Tuttle and Muriel Geldart. She will also be missed by her second family, employees of Tuttle Brothers Funeral Home, who considered her more than a employer, but a friend and mentor. Visitation will be held at Tuttle Brothers Funeral Home, 171 Lutz St. Moncton on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. A Eastern Star service conducted by Zetland Chapter #26 OES will be held Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at 6:30pm at the funeral home. The Funeral Service will be held at St. John's United Church, 75 Alma Street, Moncton, NB on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at 3:30 pm with Rev. Aaron Billard officiating. Interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery, Moncton at a later date. Flowers gratefully appreciated.
