Obituary of Judith Anne Betts

"Death is to lose the earth you know for greater knowing, to lose the life you have for greater life, to leave the friends you loved for greater loving, to find a hand more kind than home, more large than earth" It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Judith Anne Betts on September 18, 2013 at the Moncton Hospital after battling cancer. Born in Moncton on October 1, 1950; she was the youngest daughter of the late Ralph and Glenna (Ingraham) Monteith. She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years Laurie Jr., son Trevor Betts (Stephanie) of Summerside, PEI; daughter Jennifer Franklin (Chris) of Lower Coverdale. She is also survived by her four precious grandchildren Sophie, Chloƫ , Ella and Will; sisters Gayle Ritchie (Fred), Carol Reeves (Charlie) and brother Greg all of Moncton; as well as several cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Judy loved life and lived it to the fullest and was happiest surrounded by her many friends and family. Judy was always the life of the party and could instantly light up the room with just her presence. She was employed as a Case Manager at the Dept. of Social Development and truly loved her profession, her co-workers and her clients. She loved to travel, especially to New York City to see Broadway shows and also road trips in the Mustang convertible. At the age of 45, Judy decided to fulfill a lifelong dream of attending University. She graduated in 1999 from Mount Allison University with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Psychology and English Literature and made the Dean's List. Judy was a member of Highfield Baptist Church and taught Sunday School for several years. She is Past President of Professional Secretaries International, Past President of the Ladies Auxiliary at Lakeview Manor, she served on the Board of Directors of Built Network and she was a member of Riverview TOPS for several years. The family will be receiving friends and relatives at the Riverview Funeral Home, 214 Pine Glen Rd. Riverview on Friday, September 20, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral Service will be held at Riverview Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 1:30 pm with Barbara Haire officiating. Interment will be in Hopewell Hill Cemetery at a later date. Donations in Judy's memory made to the Friends of the Moncton Hospital "Oncology Dept." or to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by her family.
