Obituary of Marion Gertrude King

Marion G. King, of Riverview, NB; passed away peacefully at the age of 97 with her granddaughters Melody and Elaine at her side on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at the Moncton Hospital. Born in Lowell, Ma. USA; she was the daughter of the late Addison and Ruth (Cobb) Pyke. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, Riverview, NB. Nana loved to watch birds in her later years, she loved square dancing and doing her grand children’s hair when they were young. She loved poetry, taking long drives in the country enjoying the scenery and the farm animals. Marion was a avid card and scrabble player, she also enjoyed writing letters, knitting, baking, gardening, travelling to Ontario and Prince Edward Island. Her greatest love was that of her family and her friends. She was a loving mother-in-law, nana, great nana and a friend to all, she will be deeply missed by her loving grandchildren Melody Chappell-Smith (Brian) of Moncton, Cathy Petitpas (Mike) of Moncton, Elaine Copp (Gary) of Lower Coverdale, Cindy Willes (Doug), Darren Scanlan (Christine), Neil Scanlan, Bill King all of Ontario and Joanne Cameron (Ron) of Riverview; her adoring great-grandchildren Jessica, Nathan, Megan, Julia, Daniel, Adrianna, Victoria and Brandon; her son-in-laws Gary Kirkbride of Moncton, Earl Casey of Upper Coverdale and Paul Crawford of Ontario; sister Isabel Armstrong of Ontario; half sister Wanda Dalton of PEI; half brothers John and Boyd of PEI; close family friend Doreen Lane; special friend and caregiver for 13 years Esther; also by caregivers Marilyn, Kathy, Cheryl and Brigette, as well as nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband William King in 1989, her daughters Marie Garland, Carol Casey and Gloria Crawford; son Wayne King; sisters Elsie and Gladys; brothers Vernon, Alfred and Howard Pyke. Resting at the Riverview Funeral Home, 214 Pine Glen Rd. Riverview with visitation on Tuesday, September 24, 2013, from 2:00 to 4:00pm and 7:00 to 9:00pm. Parish Prayers and Sharing of Memories will be held at the Funeral Home, Tuesday evening at 8:30pm The funeral mass will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Fatima Drive, Riverview on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at 11:00 am with Fr. Phil Mulligan officiating. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe, NB. Donations in Marion's memory made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, or to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by her family.
