Obituary of Howard Emmerson Bulmer
It is with deep sadness that the family of Howard Emmerson Bulmer, age 81, announce his passing on June 14th at the Dr. Georges L. Dumont University Hospital Center following a battle with kidney failure and dialysis.
Born in Ammon, NB in 1933, he was the son of the late Thomas and Alma (Rogers) Bulmer. Howard was always a hard worker. At the early age of 15 he started working in the woods, he later did farm work and drove a bulldozer. At age 20, he went to work for the CNR as a Telegraph Operator and then at the ticket office with VIA Rail.
In 1963, he and his wife, Phyllis, bought a farm in Irishtown and raised their three sons. Howard enjoyed playing cards, hunting in his early years with his father, brothers, sons and friends. He liked visiting neighbours and friends, especially at Christmas time, and then in April, when for over 35 years he went door to door canvassing for the Canadian Cancer Society. He also liked history, WWI and WWII stories, the History Channel; going to the store for coffee, a chat, and a bit of gossip; and especially spending time in the sugar woods.
He will be sorrowfully missed by his wife of 60 years, Phyllis (Horsman) Bulmer; three sons Christopher (Norma), Keith (Trudy), and David, all from the Irishtown area; sisters Evelyn (late Ernest) Graves and Shirley (Lawrence) Ward; brother Thomas (Jean) Bulmer; grandchildren Katie, Ian, Kristopher, Jessica, Grace, Anne, Lisa and Denis; great-grandchildren Jude, Owen and Oliver; and several nieces and nephews. Howard will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by two sisters, Muriel Horsman in 1983 and Marjorie Graves in 2013; and by one brother, Donald Bulmer in 2010.
