Obituary of Freda Branscombe
Freda Myrtle Branscombe- 92, was surrounded by her 3 daughters when she passed away at Monarch Hall, Riverview on Thursday, September 1, 2016. She was predeceased by her husband of almost 70 years, Ray, in 2015. Freda and Ray were long-time residents of Riverview and founding members of St. Paul’s United Church.
Freda, daughter of Gordon and Bessie (McNair) Elliott, was born in 1924 and grew up in Anagance Ridge, NB. After graduation from Sussex High School and from the NB Normal School in 1942, Freda taught in one-room schools until her marriage in 1945. Freda was active in her community and was a Life Member of UCW. She was a devoted homemaker and mother to her 3 daughters, 6 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren who will miss her never-failing love and support. She leaves a void in all of us.
Besides her parents and husband, Freda was pre deceased by her sister, Hazel Mill, her granddaughter, Kathryn Howland, and her son in law, Gary Moore. Freda will always be missed by her sisters; Verna (Herb) Brand of Riverview and Joyce Small of Calgary, daughters; Donna Moore of Dartmouth, Anne (John) Jarvie of Rothesay, and Janet (Robert) Howland of Calgary, by her grandchildren: Kelly Moore, Jeff (Michelle) Moore, J (Julie) Jarvie, Elizabeth Jarvie, James (Alyssa) Howland, and Andrew Howland, and by her great grandchildren: Eden Moore, Alexis and Jack Jarvie, and Dylan and Cameron Howland.
Visitation is at St. Paul’s United Church, Riverview on Monday September 5th from 6 to 8 pm. A Funeral service will be held at St. Paul’s United Church, Riverview on Tuesday, September 6th at 11am with a reception to follow. Private internment at Fairhaven Memorial Gardens.
