Obituary of Leonard Alden Bulmer
Leonard Bulmer
1935 - 2018
Leonard Bulmer, 83 , of Moncton, NB; passed away at the Moncton City Hospital on September 2, 2018.. Len was born in Ammon, NB the son of the late Lawrence Bulmer and Myrtle Horsman. Until he was 12 he lived in Sunny Brae. His family then moved to Cherryfield.
Len joined the Canadian Armed Forces Medical Corp in 1954. He proudly served his country in Canada and Europe over the next 20 years. In 1974, he moved back to Moncton where he worked for Baxter's Dairy as an Officer Manager and then Location Manager until his retirement in 1995.
Len was a man who put his family and community before himself. The week after he retired, he started a 13-year volunteer position with the St. Augustine Food Outreach Program. His many tireless hours of effort for those less fortunate than himself earned him the Volunteer of the Year Award from St Augustine's in 1997.
He selflessly loved Joan (Steeves) of Moncton for the 61 years he was married to her. Even though he had seriously increasing health issues for many of the last 10 years of his life, he was her caretaker. Len and Joan have three children, Len Jr, of Aurora Ontario, Heather (Hajnal) of Sarnia Ontario, and Rosemari (Trites) of Moncton. He leaves behind eight grandchildren and 2 great -grandchildren. He leaves behind his sister Iris (Smith), his sister Jeannie (Morton) and his brother Lawrence. His friends found him to be genuine and kind-hearted. His family thought of him as extraordinary. He loved gardening, animals, and learning. He will be sorely missed by many.
The family wants to thank his family doctor, Sylvie LeBlanc, Dr Harb, and especially his primary oncologist of many years Dr. Linda LeBlanc. He said he liked her, because she really cared and would "tell him off" if he didn't do what she said. He liked spunk.
