Obituary of Arthur George Jonah
Arthur Jonah, age 85 of Mazerolle Nursing Home, Dieppe and formerly of Riverview passed away on Wednesday, February 4th, 2009 at the Moncton Hospital.
Born in Grangeville, NB on April 29th, 1923, he was the son of the late Joshua and Hazel (MacArthur) Jonah.
Arthur spent his working years as a conductor for the CNR and was a veteran of World War II. He was especially proud of being a member of Princess Louise Fusiliers that helped liberate Arnhem, Netherlands in 1945.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Alice, who herself is a war bride originating from Manchester, England; one brother Walter (Grace) Jonah of Dawson Settlement; three sisters Betty London (late Milton) of Moncton, Louise Jones (Warren) of Lutes Mountain, and Phyllis Kelly of Pembroke, Ontario; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from the Riverview Funeral Home, 214 Pine Glen Rd. on Friday, February 6th, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. The Riverview Veterans and Armed Forces Association will hold a service at the funeral home Friday evening at 6:45pm.
A funeral service will be held from the Riverview Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, February 7th, 2009 at 11:00am with Rev. Blair Holden officiating.
Interment will take place at Fairhaven Memorial Gardens.
Donations in memory of Arthur made to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by his family.
