Obituary of Olive Veltrude Ritchie

Olive V. Ritchie, of Hillsborough Road, Riverview passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at the Moncton Hospital on October 13, 2021. Born in Yellow Grass, Saskatchewan on November 18, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Archie and Amelia (Molly) Hein. Olive was a longtime member of Lower Coverdale United Church and was also a member of the Trinity United Church, Riverview. She was a Life Member and Past President of the Lower Coverdale U.C.W. She developed many lifelong and wonderful friendships as she was actively involved in the church for many years. She loved sitting in the sun with her morning coffee and was also known for her bread baking and famous doughnuts. She enjoyed travelling with her husband Lloyd to Hawaii, Israel and Trinidad. Many trips were made to Saskatchewan as it was important to her that Lloyd and their children know her family. Family and her faith in God were the most important things in her life. She loved having the whole family together especially during the holidays where turkey dinners were her specialty. She was a very generous, supportive, loving mother. She also enjoyed gardening, knitting, crocheting, doing puzzles and reading. She persisted through all her physical challenges and always maintained a positive optimistic attitude. She was predeceased by Lloyd, her loving husband of 54 years and brother, Norman Hein and sisters, Elsie Kennedy, June Hyland, Sadie Kelln. Survived by 2 sons, Rodney (Sandra) Ritchie of Quispamsis, Stephen Ritchie of Riverview and 3 daughters, Pamela (David) Fraser of Moncton, Charlene Whalen of Moncton, Colleen Ritchie of Riverview; grandchildren Scott (Catherine) Ritchie, Heidi Ritchie, Cara (Jerry) Fraser, David (Amber) Fraser, Jarin Whalen, Rebekah (Micah) Stairs, Jonathan Ritchie, Matthew Ritchie; great-grandchildren Jazlyn, Kylie, Isaac, Brody, Quinn, Jerrica; She is also survived by sisters, Luella McClinton and Berna Zotzman in Saskatchewan, sisters-in-law, Phyllis (Bunny) Hein, Shirley, Doris, and Carol Ritchie, Sheila Lund, Jean (Herman) Allen, Mina Steeves, Prudence (Bill) Harmer, Donna (Charles) Steeves and also nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 24, 2021 at 2:00pm at Tuttle Brothers and Riverview Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will take place at Wesleyan Union Cemetery. Masks, proof of double vaccination and a photo ID will be required upon entering the funeral home. Donations to the Friends of the Moncton Hospital or the Arthritis Society would be greatly appreciated by the family.
