Obituary of David L. Simmonds

David L. Simmonds, of Riverview, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2009 at the age of 63. Born in Chatham, NB he is the son of Harold and Bess Simmonds of the Miramichi, NB. He attended St. Paul's United Church in Riverview. He was a retired Sales Manager with Hub Meat Packers Ltd for the Newfoundland Region. David was a member and Past President of the Riverview Lions Club, where he held many offices and was Lions Liaison for Habitat for Humanity. As a hobby he enjoyed woodworking and had built bedroom sets as well as many Doll Houses for family and friends. Besides his parents he is survived by his sons Michael (Liza) of Singapore, Ed and Kevin (Colleen) of Riverview; four grandchildren Sabrina, Daniel, Emma and Brianna; two sisters Elizabeth Innes (Herbie) of Riverview and Catherine Vautour of Miramichi; one brother John Simmonds (Linda) of Oakville, ON; as well as nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by is loving wife of 41 years Joan J. Simmonds in November 2008. At David's request there will be no viewing or visitation at the Riverview Funeral Home. Private family services were held at the Riverview Funeral Home, 214 Pine Glen Rd Riverview with Rev. Steve Berube officiating. Interment was at Alderwood Cemetery, Riverview, NB. Donations in David's memory made to the Friends of the Moncton Hospital "Band-Aid Fund", the Crohn's Society or to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by his family.
