Obituary of Douglas O. Holsen
Douglas O. Holsen, 83 years, of Moncton passed away at The Moncton Hospital, on Sunday, July 14, 2013. Born in Sunny Brae, NB on April 12, 1930, he was the son of the late James Wesley & Clara (Stilwell) Holsen. In his younger years, Doug was in the Reserve Army and the 64th Light Anti-Aircraft Battery. He played in several bands including the Salvation Army Band. Doug retired from the T. Eaton's Company with over 25 years service. He was employed as an Appliance and Refrigeration Technician, a former member of the Refrigeration Service Engineering Society and he obtained the first Major Appliance Repairer License issued in New Brunswick. Prior to employment at Eaton's , he worked in Toronto for Hamilton Gear and Machine Co. for several years. He was an adherent of the St. George's Anglican Church. He is survived by his wife Jean (Lutz) Holsen; daughter Karen (Dave) Quinn of Guelph, ON; granddaughter Shannon Quinn (Lance Cavener) or Riverview; grandson Ryan Quinn of Toronto, ON; also by several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by four sisters, Dora Cunningham, Marion Donegani, Edith White and Irma Perkins. There will not be any visitation prior to the funeral service at Doug's request. The funeral service will be held at Tuttle Brothers Memorial Chapel, 171 Lutz Street on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Chris VanBuskirk officiating. Interment will be in Fairhaven Memorial Gardens. No flowers please, donations in Douglas's memory made to the Memorial of the donor's choice would be appreciated.
