Obituary of Donna Laura Melanson
Donna Laura (Wadsworth) Melanson entered in this world on February 23, 1927 in Brandon, Manitoba to Clarence & Ethel Wadsworth.Married John Melanson (predeceased) and raised four children: Mark (Sue) Melanson; Terry Melanson; Michelle (Peter) Gourley; and Denyse (John) Richard. Without a doubt her greatest treasures were her grandchildren; Ryan, Julie, Marcia, Benjamin & Sarah; Leiland & Halle. Affectionately known as "Buddy" or Nanny Melanson. This was just one of the many "hats" she wore in her lifetime.
Donna took to the skies as an airline stewardess for TCA and Air Canada. However, her natural instinct for helping and caring for others led her to a career as a registered nurse at the Moncton City Hospital and The Spencer memorial Nursing Home. Always working the night shift so she could juggle work and still be there to care for her family. Family always came first in the Melanson household! She made countless silent sacrifices in order to live up to this rule and so many many times set aside her own needs for those of her children.
Her extended family included a significant portion of the teenage population during the 70's and 80's. "810" was the unofficial youth centre where many friendships were made, card games played with the latest rock and roll music pouring out of the speakers in the basement and vibrating the walls. All under the caring and watchful eye of Mrs. "M". She led a full and happy life, and her family is glad her journey has taken her to new heights. The sign on the back door of Montgomery Avenue now reads "Donna is out". Gone but never forgotten. Her life's lesson will live on in her children and their children and so on.
Her final instructions were to refrain from visitations and/or a funeral-or else!
