Obituary of Dorothy Shea
Mary Margaret Dorothy Shea passed away peacefully at the age of 103 at Lakeview Manor. Dorothy was an active member of Saint Bernard's Church and longtime resident of Church Street. Born in 1913 and raised on a farm in Melrose, N.B., she was the third child and only daughter of Margaret (Mahoney) and James Carroll. Following public school she pursued further training and later worked as an office clerk with T. Eaton Co. Moncton. She married Fred P. Shea (of Dorchester) on August 25, 1941. They lived in Moncton and had four children. Dorothy lived a long and full life. She witnessed many changes in her lifetime yet managed to stay current for almost all of it. When asked what had changed over her time, she replied "all of it". She was dedicated to her family, and did much more than just providing. She was a wonderful cook, baker, and knitter. She always kept on top of current affairs and wholly enjoyed watching hockey. Even in her final years, she was sharp as a whip and kept busy with daily walks. She had a strong faith and was a long-time member of the Catholic women's league. Dorothy is survived by her son James Shea of Vancouver; her grandchildren: Shaun and Timothy O'Leary both of Halifax, Krista and Michael Kemp, both of Moncton, and Christopher Shea of Vancouver. She has six great grandchildren: Maria, Michael, & Shea O'Leary of Halifax; Anna & Sara Bellabarba, and Eva Kemp, all of Moncton. In her later years she derived much pleasure from her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her husband Fred (1973), and her children William (1951), Louise (Kemp, 2010), Carroll Ann (O'Leary, 2016). She was also predeceased by her brothers John and William Carroll
