Obituary of David P. Carmichael
It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of David P. Carmichael at the Moncton Hospital on September 3, 2018 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. Born in Halifax a son of the late Leo and Margaret (Underwood) Carmichael.
David's career started as a dishwasher on the CN trains when he was 16 and he retired after 39 years of service in Management with Via Rail working in Moncton, Montreal and Toronto. He loved every minute of it. He was an avid horseman most of his life and belonged to many organizations.
He is survived by his loving wife Sharon; daughters, Linda Carmichael, Sandra Purdie (Don) and Quinn Jay; sisters, Marion Hingston (Jack) and Debbie Patterson (Andy) also brother, Doug Carmichael; grandkids, Ryan and Jenna Purdie, Cassidy and Jackson Hollan as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by sisters, Joan Fanning (Bill) and Elizabeth Sullivan (Terry).
A memorial service will be held at Tuttle Brothers & Riverview Funeral Home Memorial Chapel on Monday, September 10, 2018 at 11AM.
Interment will be in Alderwood Cemetery, 1100 Coverdale Rd., Riverview, NB.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the SPCA, Hospice Greater Moncton or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
A special thanks to all the nurses and sitters on 6600- they are a very special group of people-thank you from the bottom of my heart.
