Obituary of A. Cynthia MacQuarrie

A. Cynthia (Barnes) MacQuarrie, of Monarch Hall, Coverdale Rd. in Riverview and formerly of MacBeath Ave., 40 Weldon St., and Peoples Park Tower in Moncton; passed away at Monarch Hall, on Sunday, July 25, 2010 at the age of 81 years. Born in St. John's NL. on October 13, 1928; she was the daughter of the late George and Agnes (Alcock) Fowlow. Cynthia started her career in banking with Scotia Bank in 1967, working in Campbellton and later transferring to the Scotia Bank, Winnipeg and Mountain Rd. Branch in Moncton, she retired in 1989. She was a member of St. George's Anglican Church in Moncton and was a longtime member of the Willing Workers in Campbellton, NB; Newfoundland and Moncton. She was a member of the Greater Moncton Chorale and the Moncton Community Concert Association. An avid card player, Cynthia enjoyed playing Bridge. She is survived by daughters Shelley Arsenault (Paul) of Shediac Cape and Dawn Gautreau (Leo LeBlanc) of Shediac; one son Scott Barnes (Brenda) of Moncton; grandchildren Joel (Julia), Paul (Cynthia) and Heather Arsenault (Mike), Jordan, Kristen, Meghan, Lauren, Nathan and Brayden Barnes, Stephane and Jean - Luc Gautreau; great grandchild Owen Wesley Arsenault; two sisters Ruby Harris of Toronto and Barb Windsor of Tillsenburg, ON; as well as twelve nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her first husband Herbert Roy Barnes and her second husband Arthur M. MacQuarrie and by her brother Lance Fowlow. At Cynthia's request there is no viewing at the Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at St. George's Anglican Church, Church & Queen St. Moncton, on Thursday, July 29, 2010 at 2:00 pm with The Rev. Chris VanBuskirk officiating. The family will be receiving relatives and friends in the church hall immediately following the service. Interment will be in Fairhaven Memorial Gardens. Donations in Cynthia's memory made to St. George's Anglican Church Memorial Fund or to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by her family.
