Obituary of Richard Arthur Kelly

Richard was born on June 5, 1923 in Swampscot, Mass, USA. He was the son of the late Walter and Barbara (Patch) Kelly. Survived by his wife of 61 years Doris; daughter Barbara Dingwall (Doug) and Bill (Diane); grandchildren John, Elizabeth, and Deborah; sisters Helen MacGillivray of Antigonish, Dorothy Hoban of Sydney, and Vivian Wezden of Niagara Falls. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his sister Carol in infancy. Richard was an avid hockey player in the Sydney area. He was very proud to have served his country in The Royal Canadian Air Force as a Wireless Air Gunner in the second world war (1941-45). Prior to his retirement Richard worked for CNR and later for CN Marine in a management position. He was a charter member of The Legion; a member of The CNR Pensioneers; and a member of The Masonic Lodge in Nova Scotia. In his later years he enjoyed playing golf and travelling. We are greatful for the full and rich life that he has had for these 83 years and that he was able to commit his life to Christ and know despite his poor health that he has a home in eternity.
