Anne Kathleen Curwin (Cockerill), 81, Dartmouth, died December 12, 2010. Born September 9, 1929 in Winnipeg, Man. to George and Francis Cockerill. Anne was predeceased by her brother Frank and survived by brother Richard in Arizona. She grew up on a farm in Gunton, Manitoba during the Depression. Mom became a Registered Nurse; trained by the Nuns at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg. She then became a flight attendant to pursue her life long passion for travel. Many stories flying aboard DC-9's for Air Canada She met her husband, our father, Donald, and they had two boys Peter and Gregg and settled in Moncton, New Brunswick. There she was a nurse for over 35 years at the Moncton Hospital. She raised and cared for us, was a hockey and football Mom;rarely missing any games. In 1986, our father died suddenly and she chose to move to Halifax to be with her boys and her beloved grandchildren. Anne forever cared for people either as a nurse, a friend or loved one. Her passions were life, travel and family. She to the day she passed cared for so many; never looking for anything in return. Her famous baked bread, muffins, jam and hand made baby blankets will be sadly missed by many. She was loved and supported by her "other " daughters Jennifer Philips and Tracy Curwin. Anne was a nurse, friend, artist, entrepreneur, world traveler, Wife, Grandmother, Sydney Crosby fan and above all a humanitarian and a Mother. Her grace, strength and courage never more on display then her final days. The message from Mom was to be brave, strong, and compassionate as we move forward in our own lives and as parents. Anne (Nana) cherished dearly her granddaughters Ruby, Jenna, Marley and Jade. Nana enjoyed spending as much time as she could with them Cooking, growing plants, sewing and watching all four play basketball. She continually tried to instill life skills into our girls. She felt it was her duty. Moms final handwritten note was to value life, look after people who are alone, when your cup is full --give it away, you arrive with nothing and leave with nothing, stay humble-stay low, be kind to the kind and kind to the unkind, make only one prayer every day "Thank You", take time to be with Nature everyday --- "I lived a great Life..."
