Obituary of Doris Veronica Small

Doris Veronica Small, formerly of Cameron St. Moncton, passed away peacefully at Kenneth E. Spencer Memorial Home on Friday, October 30, 2009 at the age of 87. Born in Moncton, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Elsie (Collins) Bowser. Doris was a member of St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church and an active member of the CWL. She was an avid painter and bridge player and was a member of the Moncton Arts Society and Bridge Club at the Moncton Lions Senior Citizen Center. Doris also loved to cook and sew, making most of her own clothes. She had many fond memories of her trips to Pokemouche N.B. to visit Herb’s family and play a few friendly hands of poker. She will be sadly missed by her sons: David (Laura), John, James (Linda) all of Moncton and Robert (Carla) of Fredericton; thirteen grandchildren; two sisters June (Dewar) Judson of Moncton and Leona DeBow of Edmonton AB; two brothers Reginald Bowser and Vaughn (Minnie) Bowser both of Vancouver, BC; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband Herbert Small in 2004 and by her brother Gerry Bowser. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Spencer’s Nursing Home for the wonderful care provided to Doris for the past 10 years. Resting at Tuttle Brothers Funeral Home, Lutz St. Moncton with visitation on November 2, 2009 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm and on Tuesday, November 3, 2009 from 10:30am until 12:30pm. The funeral mass will be held at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church, corner of Mountain Rd and Dominion St. Moncton, on Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at 1:00 pm with Fr. Allison Carroll officiating. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe, NB If desired, donations to the Alzheimer's Society in memory of Doris would be appreciated.
