Obituary of Anthony "Tony" William Gaidamasciuk

Tony Gaidamasciuk, age 73, of Riverview, NB; passed away peacefully at his residence with his family at his side Wednesday, July 13, 2011 after bravely facing a lengthy illness. Born in Saint John, NB; he was the son of the late William and Mary Gaidamasciuk. Tony started his career with CN Telecommunications just after graduating from Saint John Vocational School in 1955. His work brought him to Sydney, Yarmouth, Halifax and finally Moncton. He enjoyed carpentry, however his greatest love outside of his family was music. He excelled at the trumpet and violin and he was a former member of the Riverview Community Band. It was his love for the music from the 40's, 50's and 60's that influenced him to form a band called "The High Hats." A loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and friend, he will be best remembered as being dependable and "always steady". He was affectionately called "Pops" by his family. Tony will be sadly missed by his loving wife Joyce Gaidamasciuk; his children Cindy Campbell of Riverview; Michael Anthony Gaidamasciuk (Tanya) of North Bay, ON; his adoring grandson Michael Campbell (Tiffany) of Riverview; great grandson Tyler; one brother Dennis Gaidamasciuk (Anne); one sister Pearl Ackerson (Cliff) all of Saint John; a brother-in-law Albert MacNamara of Saint John and his nephew Billy Belding (Kathy) of Saint John, NB and Andrew Hillier, Mississauga, ON, his brothers-in-law Robert Hillier (Gertrude), Mississauga, ON; Fred Hillier, George's River, Cape Breton and Warren Hillier (Judy), Lawrencetown, NS. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter-in-law Colleen Lamb of North Bay, ON; and one sister Anna MacNamara. Honoring Tony's wishes, there is no visitation or funeral service, cremation has taken place. A private family graveside service will be held at Fair Haven Memorial Gardens. Donations in Tony's memory made to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by his family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Riverview Funeral Home 214 Pine Glen Rd.
