Obituary of Winston Spencer McCully

Winston S. McCully, 91, of Riverview, passed away at Monarch Hall in Riverview on Sunday, June 13, 2010. Born in Intervale, NB on March 16, 1919, he was the son of the late Charles F. and Jessie P. (Colpitts) McCully. Winston was a former employee of the CN Shops and a retired employee with 30 years service with the T. Eaton Co. He was a founding and active member of Trinity United Church, he was Clerk of Session for 25 years and a member of the Church Choir for over 30 years. He was a veteran of WW II, he served with the R.C.A.F. from 1939 to 1945. He was a member of the Riverview Veterans and Armed Forces Association, a member of the Eatons Quarter Century Club and a former member of the Bicentennial Skating Club. Winston also enjoyed the outdoors as he was an avid fisherman and hunter. He is survived by Sadly missed by his loving wife of 53 years Mona H. McCully; two daughters Lynn Alward of Pugwash, NS and Brenda Smith of Moncton; son Winston Charles McCully and his wife Beth of Sunny Corner, NB; four grandchildren Joshua, Alicia, Marc and Danny; several great grandchildren; as well as brother-in-law George Rouse; sisters-in-law Edith McCully and Norma McCully. Winston was the surviving member of his immediate family. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his grandson Christopher, brothers Austin, Dana and Fletcher McCully and by four sisters Miriam Shaffer, Dorothy Eagles, Julia Barchard and Myrtle Rouse. Resting at Riverview Funeral Home, 214 Pine Glen Rd. Riverview, with visitation on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. The funeral service will be held at Trinity United Church, 85 Old Coach Rd. Riverview on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Charlotte Youland officiating. The Riverview Veterans Association will hold a veterans service at the Riverview Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at 3:30pm. Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery in Petitcodiac, NB following the funeral service. Donations in Winston's memory made to Trinity United Church Memorial Fund or to the charity of the donors choice would be appreciated.
