Obituary of Rose Alice White
Rose Alice White, of Riverview, N.B., passed away peacefully, on February 7, 2011, at the Moncton City Hospital after a long courageous battle against cancer. She was born in Moncton, N.B. on September 9, 1930 to the late John J. and Hilda (Reid) DeVona. Rose’s love and devotion to her family was unconditional, and she will be remembered for the happiness she brought to everyone who was fortunate to be a part of her life. Rose raised her family through the support of the clergy and parishioners at Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church in Riverview, and later returned to St. Bernard’s Roman Catholic Church with her beloved husband, Frederick (Bob) White, where they had been married. She gave to her community volunteering as a catechism teacher and supporting Girl Guides and Brownies. Her love of the game of Bridge was evident as she spent cherished moments with close friends, creating special memories. Rose will be sadly missed by her loving husband of 61 years, Frederick (Bob) White, and their children: Henry, of Ottawa, ON.; John (Dorothy), of Moncton, NB; Deborah (Jean-Guy) Chiasson, of Charlo, NB; Sandra (David) D’Amours, of Riverview, NB; Rosanne (Terry) Hamilton, of Barrie, ON.; Marion White (Jerry Cook), of Balla Philip, NB; and Joanne (Robert) Boone of Hammonds Plains, NS; along with their thirteen grandchildren: Kevin and Laura White; Allan White; Mathieu Chiasson; Tracy and Christopher D’Amours; Shawn and Craig Hamilton; Brittany Cook; Mitchell, Connor, Rachel and Gregory Boone; her brother, Charles (Loretta) DeVona; and great granddaughter, Isabella Chiasson. She was predeceased by her parents and much-loved son, William (Bill) White. Resting at Riverview Funeral Home, 214 Pine Glen Road, Riverview, on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 with visitation from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m Funeral mass will be held at St. Bernard’s Roman Catholic Church, Botsford St., Moncton on Thursday, February 10, 2011 at 9:30am with Father Allison Carroll officiating. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the church hall. In memory of Rose, in lieu of flowers, donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Canadian Mental Health Association or the St. Bernard’s Elevator Fund would be greatly appreciated by her family. Interment of ashes will be at Fair Haven Memorial Gardens. A special thank you to Dr. Eva Eros, Dr. Marie-Eve Blanchard, Dr. Sheldon Rubin and all who supported Rose in the Oncology Clinic. Thanks are also extended to Extra Mural and to the very caring doctors, nurses and staff of both the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Hospital and the Moncton City Hospital.
