Obituary of Paul C. Pidgeon LCDR

Paul Pidgeon, 64, of Riverview, NB; passed away at The Moncton Hospital, on Tuesday, April 5, 2011. Born in Marystown, NL; he was the son of the late Victor and Carmel (Kelly) Pidgeon. Paul had just recently retired from Day and Ross where he was Account Manager. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Paul was active in the Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Program, from a young boy until he was 19, he then became a Naval Reserve Officer and later a Commanding Officer with many Cadet Units including Coverdale Corps in Riverview, the Moncton Corps, Bras D'or, Mary Rose and Southern Cross (it was this Cadet Unit) that Paul was instrumental in starting. His last posting was Area Cadet Instructor Cadre Officer with the NB/PEI Cadet Detachment. He was honored in December 2010 with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his 50 years service with the Military and Cadets. Paul enjoyed golf, reading, sailing and he was a huge Habs Fan. A kind and generous husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, he will be sadly missed by his wife Jeannie Saint; daughters Michelle Pidgeon (Ryan Pickard) of Riverview, Lisa Eames (Kevin) of Victoria, BC and Erin Pidgeon of Riverview; one son Lee Pidgeon of Saint John; five grandchildren Jason, Deason, Katelyn, Madeleine and Abby; three sisters Agnes Doody of Holy Rood, NL; Carmelita Evoy and Mary-Jo Brake (Vince) all of Marystown, NL; one brother Randy Pidgeon on NS; as well as nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he is predeceased by his son-in-law Derek Roundell. The family will be receiving friends at the Riverview Funeral Home, 214 Pine Glen Rd. on Thursday, April 7, 2011 from 7 to 9pm. The funeral mass will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Fatima Dr. Riverview on Friday, April 8, 2011 at 10:00 am with Fr. Phil Mulligan officiating.
