Obituary of Sandra MacDonald
Sandra June (Griffin) MacDonald of Moncton passed away peacefully and went to be with the Lord at the Dr. Georges L. Dumont University Hospital, with her daughter by her side, on Friday, March 13, 2026, at the age of 83 years. Born in Sackville, NB, she was the youngest of two daughters of the late Hugh and Elsie (Edwards) Griffin.
She is survived by her daughter, Wendy Anderson (Kevin) of Riverview, and her beloved grandchildren, Brennan Fowler and Erin Anderson, both of Riverview.
In addition to her parents, Sandra was predeceased by her husband, Theodore Robert “Ted” MacDonald in 2019, and her only sister, Dianne Meredith Miller in 2025.
Sandra served as a Reservist in the 8 th Canadian Hussars (Princess Louise's) Regiment of the Canadian Armed Forces. She was both a Bandsman and a Finance Clerk in the regimental offices at CFB Moncton. She had a lifetime love of music and was an accomplished clarinet player who, besides her service in the military band, also performed with the Codiac Cavaliers, Codiac Concert Band, Moncton District Concert Band, and the Sackville Citizens Band. Her role in the bands also included being Band Librarian and Band Treasurer for many years. She was an avid doll collector and animal lover who had several treasured Scottish Terriers over the years. She enjoyed following the lives of the Hollywood scene and enjoyed watching movies and television. She loved her family, and spending Sundays having dinner and a movie with them was her favorite pastime.
In keeping with Sandra’s wishes, cremation has taken place at Fergusons Crematorium and there will be no public services held.
A private family burial will take place in the Spring of 2026 at the Sackville Rural Cemetery.
Donations in memory of Sandra, made to a dog or cat rescue of the donor’s choice or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick, would be appreciated.
