Darilyn Hill

Obituary of Darilyn Hill

Darilyn Elsie Hill, of Riverview, NB, passed away peacefully on Saturday October 11, 2025 at the age of 86. Born in Moncton, NB on December 5th, 1938 to the late Jack and Elsie Heavyside, she resided in Riverview for over 65 years. Darilyn was a devoted and loving wife to Ron, who remained at her side, day and night, during her last few days.

She began her career at an early age with the Royal Bank of Canada, working as a teller, Loans Officer and proudly as Branch Manager at a time when men typically filled this position. After 35 years with the bank, she retired at the young age of 57. Ron and Darilyn then began a 20-year journey of wintering in Florida with their new motor home. For ten years, Darilyn was secretary for the Perfect Circle Motor Home Club while Ron managed the motor home merchandise. They later purchased a park model home and enjoyed many visits from their 3 daughters. During this time, Ron and Darilyn met many new friends including couples from the Maritimes. Life was grand with daily ‘Happy Hours’ and shopping sprees with the ladies. Darilyn enjoyed her time with the local chapter of the Ladies Probus Club of Moncton and many chapters of the Red Hat Ladies. She loved crafts including sewing (so many wonderful outfits for her 3 young girls), card making, needlepoint, jewelry making and toll painting. Her family has many cherished items to fondly remember her by. Darilyn will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and wonderful sense of humour. She was always the life of any party and was so much fun!

Darilyn is survived by her devoted husband, Ronald Hill; her loving daughters Susan (Pat) O’Loughlin, Cathy Hill, and Cheryl (Bernie) Devereaux; grandchildren Dylan, Taylor (Jenna), and Sarah (Jeremie) Devereaux, Dennis and Robbie (Jessica) Lane, and Christine (Cameron) O’Loughlin; and her young great-grandchildren, Shay and Blaire Lane. Also mourning her loss are her many cousins; nieces and nephews; Ron’s siblings Bob (Dot), Vaughn, and Carol (Ron) Berry; and her dear friend Carolyn Beers.

Darilyn was the last remaining member of her family having been predeceased by her parents, brother Doug Heavyside and beloved sister Dianne Belliveau. She was also predeceased by their son David Hill (stillborn), grandson Brendan O’Loughlin, nieces Deanna Heavyside and Vickie Bordage, nephew David Berry, and son-in-law Reg Dawson.

Special thanks to the many wonderful caregivers at Monarch Hall Nursing Home in Riverview where Darilyn resided for just over a year. Nursing teams show remarkable dedication to dementia patients, and their care is greatly appreciated.
