Obituary of Rick Bell

Richard M. “Rick” Bell of Moncton, NB, passed away peacefully at the Dr. Georges L. Dumont University Hospital Centre on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 with his loving wife by his side. Born in Moncton, he was a son of the late Jack and Eva Jean (Currie) Bell.

Rick was a career funeral director, dedicating his entire working life to the industry. He began his career at Cadman’s Funeral Home in 1975 at the age of 17 years. He continued as managing director until 1993, when he accepted a position of general manager and managing funeral director of Tuttle Bros. Ltd. and Riverview Funeral Home, until his retirement in 2023.

In Rick’s spare time, he gave of himself to many professional and community organizations, always willing to lend a helping hand. He was a member of FSAC, a past president of the board of NB Funeral Directors and Embalmers, and a member of the NB Funeral Directors Association. He was a life member of the Lions Club and a recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award for the Riverview Lions Club, serving in many capacities. He was a member of the Moncton Elks Club. Rick was an avid golfer, playing out of Maplewood, Country Meadows and Lakeside golf clubs.

Survived by his wife and best friend Louise (Girouard) Bell; sisters Sharyn Patterson (late Rod) of Fredericton, NB, Joanne Payne (Gerald) of Charlottetown, PEI; brothers Jack Bell (Diane) of Riverview, NB, Gary Bell (Jeannette) of Dieppe; also survived by several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

In honor of Rick’s wishes, cremation has been entrusted into the professional care & guidance of Fergusons Crematorium. A Celebration of Rick's Life will be held on Thursday, September 4th, 2025 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Fergusons Riverview Funeral Centre, 214 Pine Glen Road, Riverview, NB (506-857-9544).
