Obituary of John Lockhart
John Richard Lockhart passed away on Wednesday August 20, 2025 after a brief illness at the age of 74.
John is survived by his loving wife Wendy of 50 years; and his children, Jennifer (Clive), Jeff (Sofia) and forever cherished and remembered by his 3 grandchildren, Trent, Stella and Zoe and little dog Maddie. Also survived by sister in law Jane Lockhart of Fredericton, Sister in law Kim (Patrick) Tucker of Moncton and brother-in-law Peter (Heather) Cameron of Rothesay and several nieces and nephews.
John was predeceased by his father, Roy, his mother, Joan and his brother Daniel. Born in Saint John, New Brunswick on March 18th, 1951, John spent most of his life in the Kennebecasis Vally area before relocating to Riverview, New Brunswick in 2022 to be closer to his children and grandchildren.
John enjoyed a long and distinguished career in the construction industry. He began his journey as an Electrician at just 18 years old. He went on to get his industrial instrumentation certification in 1986 and in 1996 obtained his Gold Seal certification in project management . He steadily advanced through a variety of management roles, ultimately serving as the Martimes Regional Manager with Cahill group until his retirement in 2014. His work was a true source of pride and fulfillment—he often spoke passionately about the projects he led and the accomplishments he achieved over his remarkable 44-year career. Though his profession demanded significant time away from home and family, often traveling across the Maritimes, John embraced these sacrifices with dedication and purpose, driven by a genuine love for what he did.
John was an avid outdoorsman, passionate about fishing, hunting and had a deep love for the wilderness. He also cherished the game of golf and was a long-time member of the Hampton Golf club in Hampton, New Brunswick where he forged lifelong friendships over his 30 + year membership. In later years, he joined Moncton Golf Club in Riverview, New Brunswick, and spent as much time as he could enjoying the game with family.
There are no words that can express how grateful and blessed we are to the staff at the Dr. Georges L Dumont University Hospital Centre for their excellent care and compassion during this difficult time.
At John’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. There will be a small family gathering to celebrate John’s life at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or charity of the donor's choice can be made in John’s memory.
