Obituary of John E. Glynn
John Edward Glynn of Riverview passed away peacefully at the Albert House Hospice in Moncton on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at the age of 81.
Born in Saint John, N.B., John was the son of the late John E. and Julia (Childerhouse) Glynn. John served 25 years in the Military Police with the Royal Canadian Air Force. He spent the next 15 years working in security for the Bank of Canada. After retirement, John continued to work in his community at the Moncton Sheriff’s Department and later as a Driver for Moncton Auction City.
John is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary (Hogan) Glynn; daughters, Dawn Glynn (Maxwell Turcotte) of Miramichi, NB, Shannon Gingras (Manny) of Bradford, ON; son, John E. Glynn of St. Thomas, ON; grandchildren, Taylor Sturgeon, (Thomas), Ava, Julia, Ella, Johnnie and Rylan; great grandson, Mason; brother Bob Glynn (Ann) of Saint John, NB. and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, John was predeceased by his sister Trudi Finlayson (Cam).
John had so many special qualities that are difficult to put into words. He lit up the room and was the life of the party. He traveled the world with Mary and their children and was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and was loved by so many. He had many adventures including “missions” with his brother Bob and camping escapades at Keene’s Lake. He loved his sports, especially golf and baseball and will forever be the ultimate Boston Red Sox fan. He had this uncanny ability to make friends wherever he went and maintain those lifelong friendships. He would do anything for you and had a quiet resilience that made you want to know him. He served his country proudly and had an unwavering desire to help others. He will be greatly missed but his memories will live on in our hearts.
