Obituary of Marie Watanabe
Marie Euphrasie Watanabe (née Comeau), of Riverview, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on May 15, 2025, at the age of 75. She was the daughter of the late Francois Comeau and late Maria Lacroix.
Marie was born in Quebec and raised in Bathurst, NB. She later relocated to Moncton in 1971 where she met and fell in love with her late husband, Fred and together they raised four children. While she worked at the Times & Transcript, her true passion and focus was being a dedicated and loving mother to her four children. Whether it was preparing a delicious meal or baking sweet treats, she found joy in the kitchen. She enjoyed spending quality time with Fred, whether it was relaxing in their garden, traveling to visit their grandchildren, or playing with their four beloved cats. She had a natural talent for music and taught herself to play the organ, which became one of her favorite pastimes. Even in her final days, she found comfort in her favorite songs, often tapping her feet or humming along to the music she loved.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children and their spouses: her son, Akio, her daughter, Misa and her husband James, her son, Koji & his wife Alys, her daughter, Toshiko and her husband Licio; her cherished grandchildren, Evan, Avery, Lyriel, Cadence, Alessio, and Amelia.
In place of a formal service, the family will celebrate Marie’s life in a private gathering. Those who wish to honor her memory are invited to share personal reflections or donate to the Alzheimer Society of Canada. (www.alzheimer.ca )
