Obituary of Verna May Cormier
1928-2025 at age 97.
Verna May Cormier of Moncton, passed away peacefully with her daughter Linda by her side at Hospice SENB, The Albert House, on Friday, March 28, 2025, 11:00 p. m.
Verna was born at 267 John Street in Moncton, later family moved just behind their house at 2 Butler Street, then later she moved to Moncton Residence on John Street where she could see both houses, and be back home.
Verna’s family was the late Parmer Nelson Wilson (Parm - Mama called him), and Amanda (Mandy) Meredith Mitton .. Verna always called Parm “Father” and Amanda “Mama” or “Mandy”, when she was telling me about her family. Mom truly loved her family.
Verna was a former member of the Lewisville Baptist Church, and the Highfield Baptist Church - her name should be on the special Corner Stone they opened a few years ago. Verna was also a long-standing member of the No. 6 Moncton Legion, Ladies Auxilliary, which she really enjoyed.
Verna is survived by her daughter Linda Jean Cormier (Gagnon) of Barachois. Verna has 6 Grand-children ..Silvain Gagnon (Allison), Michael LeBlanc (Susan), Cindy LeBlanc (Gallant), Jody LeBlanc, Tonya Cormier and Cory Cormier (Katelyn).
Verna also has 15 Great Grand-Children..Alexandre Gagnon, Yannick Gagnon, Miguel Gagnon, Vinessa LeBlanc, and two step-sons Cody and Jesse, Jeffery Gallant, Brandon Gallant, Amy LeBlanc, Rob LeBlanc, Mark LeBlanc, Dylan Yeomans, Emma Cormier and Lucas Cormier.
In addition to Parmer Wilson (1936) and Amanda Meredith Mitton Wilson (1950), she was also predeceased by her husband Jean Baptiste Adolphe Joseph Cormier (2009) whom she had been with since she was about 15, so way over 65 years, a daughter Carol Elizabeth (2018), and a son Donald Robert Cormier (1988); grandson, Jason LeBlanc (2015); also her sisters Queenie Lewis, Greta Gallant, Myrtle Slater, Hazel McFarlane, and her brothers Arthur, Clarence, Donald, Lorne, Basil, Winfred, Lloyd, Clinton, and a baby brother.
In keeping with Verna’s wishes, creamation has taken place at Fergusons Crematorium, and a graveside service will be held in Elmwood Cemetery at a later date. Donations in memory of Verna, can be made to the Charity of your choice, would be appreciated.
Thank you for so many of you visiting Verna in the Hospital and in The Albert House, who loved her so much, they counted 25 in just one day at the hospital visiting her, and the visitors didn’t stop. Thank you to the Doctors who looked after Mom Verna over the years, they have been so good to her, and You know who you are, and all that you did, you looked after her very well. Just recently, her Doctors were Dr. Mallet at the Moncton Hospital, and Dr. Poitras at Hospice, The Albert House. Mom Verna was very well-looked-after, exceptional care, David, Kiana, and all the others who were in and out helping Verna in this special place for her final days.
